The Challenge Program, Inc. and Eaton Corporation Provide Washington High School Students with Career-Readiness Opportunities

Washington, PA – Eaton Corporation, in partnership with Washington High School and The Challenge Program, Inc. (TCP), recently provided students with an exclusive opportunity to explore career pathways in the manufacturing industry. Selected juniors and seniors toured Eaton’s Washington facility, gaining firsthand insight into the company’s operations and the critical role its electrical and industrial products play in various energy sectors.
During the tour, students engaged with Eaton employees, observed the production process, and learned about the diverse career opportunities available within the company. The experience gave them a behind-the-scenes look at a modern manufacturing facility and the skills required to succeed in the industry.
“Eaton values our partnership with The Challenge Program because it is critical to inspire the next generation by providing them with real-world insights into the manufacturing industry,” said Tiffany McCartney, Human Resources Manager at Eaton. “Eaton is honored to have the opportunity to sponsor Washington High School and offer students a tour of our facility, which stems from our commitment to community engagement and education. Witnessing the students’ curiosity and enthusiasm during the tour was incredibly rewarding. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Washington High School and supporting future activities, fostering a deep understanding of the opportunities within our industry.”
Following the tour, students were invited to participate in a job-shadowing experience, where they can select a department and shadow a leadership team member. This opportunity will allow them to explore specific career interests and gain valuable workplace experience.
“Most students on this tour had never stepped foot inside a manufacturing facility or been exposed to engineering careers prior to learning about Eaton,” said Brianna Hamon, Program Development Manager. “I love seeing Eaton’s dedication to helping students navigate their future and tap into their workplace talents.”
Students shared their key takeaways from the experience:
- “The different workstations and safety precautions.”
- “I learned about all the innovations the company has made to increase productivity.”
- “They make outlet boxes.”
With the launch of Eaton’s new apprenticeship program this year, the tour and job shadowing experience served as a key initiative in identifying and recruiting local talent for paid training and future employment. By partnering with Washington High School through The Challenge Program, Inc., Eaton demonstrated its commitment to building a skilled workforce and investing in students’ futures.
